Madeleine Dring (1923-1977) English composer, mime artist, artist, violinist and actress. As composer, she wrote a lot for the stage, thereby combining all her skills. From her hand we have one opera “Cupboard Love” (which seems hilarious, I would love to hear it one day), two ballets, music for revues, children’s plays, TV/radio dramas and incidental music.
Maybe thanks to the fact that she was married to an oboe player, we can now source from a wealth of chamber music that features the oboe (e.g. the trio for flute, oboe and piano from 1968) but also songs, piano pieces etc. For orchestra we have e.g. the Festival Scherzo for piano solo and string orchestra.
